Same here Michael! The SDS 100 works fine for me so that's something I'd recommend as well...

Re: Uniden repair

OK, so it didn't come from Uniden and we are left with
possibly conflicting info between Uniden and their website.

Remember, it's not "all accessories", it's "All Accessories In Order To Properly Troubleshoot Your Particular Repair Issue".

So if you are having a power issue, you need not include the antenna.

After trying everything I know to fix the clock issue on my Home Patrol 2, the time has come to return it to Uniden for repair.

The Uniden support page says to return the unit with all accessories. However I've seen past posts saying not to do this.  I will not send it with batteries installed but am unclear whether to send it back with its stock antenna and the SD card still installed (yes, the SD card is fully backed up).

FCC Updates Weekending 11/07/2020

Michael Martin

The latest updates have been posted to the web - FCCUpdates.com.

I found a big surprise in the FCC database for the week – Los Angeles County, California has now applied for and received a licensed for a Phase II UHF-T TRS!  If you have a slow internet connection, you may want to shy away from the California database as there are in excess of 11,000 lines of data.  It’s HUGE!  There are also quite a few renewals of VHF-Lo Band (including the American Red Cross).  Do any of your agencies still use Lo Band?  Anyway, below are some of the highlights of this week’s updates:

California – Los Angeles County licensed for a Phase II UHF-T TRS.
Louisiana – St. John the Baptiste Parish has a new P25 800 MHz TRS site.

Michigan – Michigan Department of Corrections has new P25 UHF frequencies in Ionia County.
North Carolina – North Carolina State Highway Patrol has a new Phase II 800 MHz site in Charlotte (Mecklenburg County).  Addition to VIPER?
Pennsylvania – Wayne County added several new NFM VHF frequencies.
Texas – City of Odessa (Ector County) added a new P25 800 MHz TRS Site to their system.
Texas – City of Amarillo (Potter County) added a new Phase II 800 MHz TRS Site to their system.
Texas – City of Wichita Falls (Wichita County) added new DMR UHF frequencies to both the Kickapoo and Regional Airports.

That’s it for this week.

Although I can't find anything online about it, I seem to recall that charging the HP2 clock battery requires that the unit be plugged in and turned on and run continuously for 50-60 hours.  Does that sound familiar to anybody?

Live Scanner Q&A Tonight

Phil - W2LIE

Hi Everyone
Take a small break from tonight’s election coverage and join me on YouTube where I’ll be answering Scanner Q&A at 9pm Eastern US time.

Replays will be available immediately following the Live Q&A Session if you happen to miss it.

I answer questions on the first Tuesday of every month on both YouTube and Facebook, as well as on my podcast, Scanner School.

This month on the podcast, I answer the following questions:
  • What are some troubleshooting tips to improve audio quality and overall reception on a Uniden scanner?
  • Can Unication G-series pagers support Motorola type 2 systems?
  • What can someone do or what antenna can they buy if the scanner app on their cell phone is picking up more than their actual scanner radio?
  • Is it worth putting a scanner in your car if most of what you scan is digital?
  • What SDR antenna would I recommend?
You can listen to this week’s podcast at www.scannerschool.com/session150

Hope to “see" you all tonight on YouTube for the Live Q&A.
